There are many things we have to consider when matching fabrics to frames:
- Does the price point of the fabric match the price point of the frame?
- Is this a new or existing frame?
- Where do we want to place this combination in the showroom?
- How did we show the frame last market?
- Which fabrics can we add to our programs like Multiple Choices and Custom Loft?
And the list continues! Here are examples of some of our choices.
Step 1: Choose frame
The L3126 Sectional was a new introduction last market. This time we've chosen to show it in fabric. It is a more contemporary frame with a simple track arm and metal base, so it complements the contemporary tribal print that will be used in this setting.
Step 2: Add chairs
Next, we add chairs that will work in each setting. Here we've added the 9306-SG Swivel Glide Chair. This chair works well with this setting because its curved back and arms break up the straight lines of the sectional.
Step 3: Add ottomans
Now we've added the 2090-O2 ottoman to this setting. It's simple, square shape is perfect for carrying the complex, contemporary print that will also be used as a pillow on the sectional.
Step 4: Choose a location
Next, we look at the layout of our showroom and determine where we should place this setting. Since it isn't a new frame, it won't go in the front of the showroom. This market we've actually created a contemporary gallery, and that is where we have placed this frame. This gallery will be located in the top left corner of the showroom.
Step 5: Review
Our last step is to review the entire showroom. How does everything flow, do we need to add any pieces, do we need to change any fabrics? This is where things change. We may add a fabric or chair, or take one way. We may move a setting, or change the fabric combination. This is all done in order to present a cohesive showroom.
In this setting, we introduced a leather chair to complete the look. This black leather will be new to our line, and adds a bold elegance to the setting.
Now that our showroom is planned, we can enter our market order so that the pieces can be built. Next time, we'll show you the product development process where we will take you through idea generation, preliminary sketches, and prototypes of our new pieces!
