A Day in the Lift: Part 4

The count down to market continues, as does our planning! We've been working away to put together a beautiful showroom. We've shown you how we pick our fabric combinations, now we will show you our process of matching the fabrics to the frames and placing them in the showroom.

There are many things we have to consider when matching fabrics to frames:

  • Does the price point of the fabric match the price point of the frame?
  • Is this a new or existing frame?
  • Where do we want to place this combination in the showroom?
  • How did we show the frame last market?
  • Which fabrics can we add to our programs like Multiple Choices and Custom Loft?
And the list continues! Here are examples of some of our choices.

Step 1: Choose frame

A Day in the Life: Part 3

We've been moving right along in our market preparations. After we go through all our fabric culls and pick the fabrics we think would go well in our line, our next step is to start putting together combinations to show at market.

We start by laying out the fabrics that made it through all of the culls in the floor.
Here's just a few of the contenders for our Parisian Loft Collection

A Day in the Life: Part 2

October market is only about 10 weeks away. We are continuing to get everything ready for another spectacular market! Our first step in preparing for market was attending Showtime and selecting fabrics we'd like to see samples of.

Once we receive all of our samples, we go through them! We bring in hundreds of fabrics.

Sitting Pretty

Looking to redesign a room in your home? Precedent can help you create the look you are searching for! Pick your favorite look and follow these easy tips and you'll be on your way to creating a space perfect for you.

Modern Elegance:

To achieve this look, contrast dark fabrics with light walls. This gives depth to the room and allows your furniture to really pop! Use a clean line sofa, like our 3128-S1, and pair with accent chairs that have simple curves to break up the space. Using a bench ottoman rather than a cocktail table can add that extra twist of modernism.

Accent with metallic by adding in accessories like a starburst mirror and platinum nailhead trim. Try geometric print fabrics to add structure and masculinity. Always remember to play with textures. Here we've used leather on our L3119-C3 swivel chair, mohair on our 3134-O1 ottoman, and a shag rug to add just the right amount of visual contrast.

A Day in the Life: Part 1

For furniture manufacturers, High Point Furniture Market is one of the most important times of the year. Our whole year revolves around getting ready for market. It's an endless cycle that happens twice a year, but we love it! We are taking you on this journey with us as we prepare for market in October. Follow our, "A Day in the Life," series to see just what goes into making a market showroom!

Our market preparations start with Showtime, the fabric market where we view thousands of fabrics to consider for our line. Showtime takes place right in High Point, which is very convenient for us since we are only about an hour away.

We schedule as many appointments in as we can during our three day stay at Showtime. Most of our showings are thirty minutes, and we can have as many as 25 showings in one day. We see mills like Valdese Weavers, Robert Allen, Keystone Weaving, Dicey, and Sunbury. We see everything from new patterns, color ways, and color trends for each season. Here's a look at some of what we saw at the beginning of the month at Showtime...

DwellStudio Flagship Store

Tuesday night, DwellStudio hosted a Grand Opening Party at their new flagship store in Soho. Some of us were able to attend, and we were so impressed with the space. Here are some pictures of the store and the event.
